Frequently Asked Questions |
Q. I have a shared PC. How do I set up WHOS-IN to run several copies with different user names on the same machine? A. From the workstation, run USER.EXE (located on the server WHOSIN folder) without entering a user name. As WHOS-IN starts, it will display the 'Add New User' screen. This screen allows the user to create multiple Icons (each with a different user name) and stores them on the Windows DeskTop (plus optionally in the Startup folder). To run several copies, simply choose the Icon with the appropriate name, minimize it, then choose the next Icon (with a different user name). Both copies will run side-by-side on the one PC. Q. I have deleted a person using the Admin DELETE USER function, but they keep reappearing. What's happening? A. Someone is starting WHOS-IN using the user name that you have deleted. When you delete a user, you should also delete the Icon from the users Windows Desktop and / or Startup folder, and also from the users Network Login script (if you have this option enabled). Q. How do I set up a loging script? A. WHOS-IN 2005 now uses the Network Logon ID as the primary method of retrieving the users details via a parameter, and extracts their 'Name' from the WHOS-IN database based on the User ID supplied. Example: \\YourServer\YourShare\PathToWhosIn\USER.EXE -UID:%USERNAME% For a Novell network, substitute %USER for %USERNAME% |
